Ecumenical Evangelisation

"That they may be one" was the prayer of Jesus in the garden at Gesthemene (Jn 17:6-19). Jesus calls all Christians to unity. For our evangelisation efforts to bear true witness and a rich harvest, our mission activites must reflect this call for unity.

The Churches of Northbridge (Anglican, Catholic and Uniting) have a long history of working together and praying together as a united Christian community. Coordinated through the Northbridge Inter-Church Council, the Churches have undertaken many significant outreach fund-raisings together, shared scripture reflections and adult faith formation programs, and regularly pray together. Some of the regular activities are listed below.

For more information, and to join the Inter-Church Council, please contact the coordinator, Trevor Vella.

Lenten Prayer and Reflection Program

The ecumenical Lenten prayer and reflection program runs during the first five weeks of Lent. Both afternoon and evening sessions are offered - afternoon sessions 1:30 - 2:45pm @ St Mark's Anglican Church, Northbridge; evening sessions 7:30 - 8:45pm @ St Philip Neri Catholic Church, Northbridge. $10 for booklet. Further details of dates and additional sessions are published each year in the Church newsletters.

Annual Prayer for Christian Unity

Each year the Anglican, Uniting and Catholic Churches of Northbridge come together in the evening of either Ascension Sunday or Pentecost Sunday at St Mark's Anglican Church for prayer and fellowship.

Taize Prayer

In August each year the Churches of Northbridge form an ecumenical choir, coming together for 3-4 rehearsals, culminating in an evening of meditative prayer at the Uniting Church in Gunyah Street, Northbridge. The prayer service is preceded by a fellowship hour for parishioners from the three Churches.

Advent Ecumenical Celebration

At ther end of each year, on the First Sunday of Advent, the Churches of Nrthbridge come together to pray together, to raise funds for an agreed ecumenical Christian outreach, and to celebrate our fellowship just prior to Christmas.

All are welcome to join in these activities, which are a wonderful expression of our Christian faith in action, in unity.
