Inter-Faith Dialogue

Today more than ever it is vitally important to explore dialogue and opportunities for collaboration with people of other faiths. In Australia, we are blessed with a broad multi-cultural milieu in a tolerant and free society. When we sing together as a nation "I am, you are, we are Australian," we are proud to identify ourselves as coming from many different backgrounds and faith traditions. This sense of collaboration, of being part of one human race in search of fulfilment, is also expressed by the Church:

Other religions found everywhere try to counter the restlessness of the human heart, each in its own manner, by proposing "ways," comprising teachings, rules of life, and sacred rites. The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true and holy in these religions. She regards with sincere reverence those ways of conduct and of life, those precepts and teachings which, though differing in many aspects from the ones she holds and sets forth, nonetheless often reflect a ray of that Truth which enlightens all (Second Vatican Council, Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions, Nostra Aetate,2).

From time to time the parish particpates in community-based inter-fath dialogue, often as a part of our ecumenical expression of faith. If you are interested in exploring this area further, contact our pastoral associate, Paul Mason on 9438 1011.
