Here is a funeral planning guideline to help in the preparation of the funeral service.

Funeral Checklist

Here is a checklist outline for the funeral liturgy. This will help prepare the funeral service.

The Funeral of a Love One

"Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted" (Mt 5:4).

The death of a loved one brings great sadness for those left behind, but it is also a cause for celebration as they enter into paradise, the summit of their journey in faith in this life.

Most of us are rarely asked to prepare a church service and may not know where to start. Our Pastoral Associate, Paul Mason, can help families prepare an appropriate funeral service. Please contact him on 9438 1011.

The Parish Funeral Planning Guide sets out the options in choosing the ministers, the Christian symbols, and the music for a funeral Mass. Click here to download it.

In addition, the parish provides a resource for choosing appropriate readings for the funeral. Please contact our Pastoral Associate, Paul Mason, 9438 1011, to obtain a copy.

The Funeral Checklist provides an outline of the funeral liturgy and a checklist of the choices of music, readings, prayers and the people who will minister at the funeral. Click here to download it.

The parish priest presides at most funerals held at St Leonard’s and St Philip Neri. Please contact the parish office on 9438-1011 about any other celebrants or concelebrants you wish to be involved in the liturgy.

The parish office has a list of music ministers (both singers and organists) who are familiar with the music equipment and PA in the church and are skilled in leading the singing of congregations at funerals. For details, please contact the parish coordinator at the parish office on 9438-1011.
