Liturgy

The formal liturgical prayer of the Church is called the Divine Office, or Liturgy of the Hours.

Our priests and religious pray these liturgical prayers daily, particularly morning prayer, evening prayer and night prayer.

There has long been a tradition of the laity praying the Liturgy of the Hours as well, whether in churches and monasteries or at home.

More and more we come together in prayer with Christians of other denominations. Taize Prayer is a wonderful form of prayer accepted broadly across the various denominations.

Devotions

In addition to the formal liturgical prayer of the Church, there are many forms of devotional prayer.

Most prominent among these devotional prayers is the Rosary and Lectio Divina.

Private Prayer

Aside from public liturgical and devotional prayer, there are many forms of private prayer. There are many aids to prayer and the ongoing development of our personal relationship with Jesus.

Of particular importance is praying for vocations, our own and others in our church.
