Our Vision

Our vision calls for pastoral care for evangelisation.

By providing the best pastoral care and reaching out, we wil become stronger witnesses of Christ to our local communities and society in general.

In 2010 a test of our vision could be best summed up in the words of the hymn:

"And they'll know we are Christians by our love."

Our Mission

We, the Catholic parish communities of Naremburn and Northbridge, are disciples of Jesus. By our baptism, we are called to work together to extend the reign of God:

Evangelisation

In his Apostolic Letter Novo Millenio Ineunte, Pope John Paul II reminds us to "put out into the deep" for a catch, citing the Gospel of Luke:

He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. (Luke 5:3-6, NRSV)

Evangelisation Through Excellence in Pastoral Care

Evangelisation is spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and drawing all people to him. It is the Church's foremost task and belongs to all its members.

In the diocese of Broken Bay we have set excellence in pastoral care as the priority means of evangelisation. We seek to achieve "a pastoral ministry with holiness at its core, living out of a 'spirituality of communion', providing our people training in holiness and education in prayer" (Diocesan Pastoral Plan, Going Forward Together 2006-2010). A particular focus is the evangelisation of the many baptised Catholics who are disaffected from the life and worship of the Church.

Evangelisation with Purpose - the Experience of the Eucharist

Through excellence in pastoral care in our parish communities we seek to draw all people to Jesus, and particularly to the experience of the mystery of the Eucharist each Sunday. For it is in the Eucharist that "we have Jesus, we have his redemptive sacrifice, we have his resurrection, we have the gift of the Holy Spirit, we have adoration, obedience and love of the Father" (John Paul II Encyclical, Ecclesia de Eucharistia).
